Come and join us on this perennial favourite ramble along the towpath of the tranquil and picturesque 250 year-old Caldon Canal as it wends its way along the gorgeous Churnet Valley.
The 2-mile walk is almost entirely level alongside the canal from Froghall Wharf to the little hamlet of Consall and the much-loved Black Lion Inn. We will take lunch there and from the pub garden sit and watch the narrow boats and steam train pass by. There are two alternatives for returning to Froghall, either retrace our steps along the towpath, or climb out of the valley and take a route along lanes and paths, some steep, back to the start point.
This will be our eighth ramble to be held here which demonstrates how popular it has been with our members over the last thirteen years. We look forward to seeing old faces and new on this lovely walk.
